02:00 pm - 22 Years Ago Today

January 28, 1986 Space Shuttle Challenger exploded just over a minute after launch, killing seven astronauts.

I was in eighth grade and an avid space travel and exploration enthusiast. I had been to Space Camp in 1984 (I was selected Commander of my team) and had been studying space flight for as long as I could remember. It was my dream to be an astronaut, a dream shattered by my terrible vision, but I had resolved that if I couldn't go into space, I would design spacecraft. That's why I majored in Aerospace Engineering (among other fields) when I went off to college. I never finished and became side-tracked in the computer industry of the mid-nineties, but I've never given up on my dreams of space travel.

The loss of Challenger was devastating to me at 13, but the investigation introduced me to a curious character: Richard P. Feynman. Feynman opened me up to whole new worlds and ways of thinking I never knew existed.

My point? I don't have one. Just sharing a piece of me.
